As an organization, going live with the new system can be nerve-wracking.

However, there seem to be some common elements that happen right around go-live. They’re so common that I tell customers they can count on some or all of these.

Want to know what they are? Check them out below…

1. SMEs leave the company – no doubt, a long implementation can be exhausting for employees – so make a backup plan.

2. The first month is critical – financially and operationally, the first month is sink or swim. The first month is when you find out the little things you forgot to solution during the implementation – be patient and let the system work.

3. 1st month-end will be rocky – from an accounting perspective month-end is a critical activity, and the first month-end will be rocky. There is usually some manual correction that takes place.

4. Each month gets better – IFS is a great tool that “evolves” with the business. It is flexible enough to change as the company learns new ways of doing business and tweaks can be made quickly based on real transactions.

You’ve spent the past year configuring, learning, training, and migrating.

I’ve never had a customer get it perfectly from day 1, however knowing and expecting some of these elements above can give you some assurance that you’re on the right track.
